F.I.E.R.O. is known for its Annual PPE Symposium and its Annual Fire Station Design Symposium. These are both high quality events which are well-run and it attracts the best in the industry subject matter experts as speakers. The Fire Station Design Symposium is the first of its kind and the longest running event of its kind. Concurrent to this Symposium is the Annual Fire Station Design Awards program where winners are selected by a team of jurors who are are both architects as well as current or retired fire service personnel. The PPE Symposium does not allow for vendor infomercials as all the speakers are either fire service personnel or fire service research scientists. Both events include an exhibit area with dedicated exhibit time. Registration fee for both events includes, breakfasts, lunches, mid-morning and mid-afternoon refreshments, an opening ice-breaker reception, an exhibit reception, and a hard copy resource manual.
